Dear Parent or Guardian,
Your student’s class is preparing for a field trip to the Brother Brennan Environmental Education Centre. The outing will be great for class spirit while students engage in activities related to their curriculum.
The Brother Brennan Environmental Education Centre is a residential Centre in the Deer Park area off Salmonier Line. The facilities provide comfortable sleeping and eating quarters as well as a wonderful wilderness location for experiencing and appreciating Newfoundland’s natural heritage (more information can be found at www.brotherbrennancentre.ca).
The Eastern School District subsidizes the environmental program which is run by an experienced teacher and support staff. The program is fun, hands-on, action packed and aims to immerse students in environmentally sound living, while building important social skills. Thanks to Newfoundland’s Green Fund, wind turbines now generate almost all of the electricity for the Centre and these will be used as a focal point for teaching your child about climate change.
